How to make wristband signs

A wristband sign system turns every call into a number, so the other dugout has nothing to steal. Setting one up takes a few minutes.

1. Pick a template: offense, baseball pitching or softball pitching for 12U/14U, 16U/18U or college, the standard defense set, or a blank grid.
2. Set the size of the grids: how many go on the card and how many rows and columns each one has.
3. Fill in your signs. Keep each one to two or three characters, like FB, CH or BNT, so it reads at a glance. Offense, defense and pitch calls can share a card.
4. Size the card to the clear pocket of your wristbands, and add each player's name or number if you want a card per player.
5. Print the cards, the coaches sheet you call from and a cheat sheet for each player, all from the same signs.
6. Call a three-digit number. The first two digits pick the column (top), the last digit picks the row (left), and the cell where they meet is the play. You can can also customize the coaches sheet to flip column and row order (left-top instead of top-left).
