How a pitch calling wristband works
The coach calls a three-digit number from the dugout. The catcher finds that cell on the card, reads the pitch and the location, and sets up. The pitcher can wear the same card, so nothing passes between the plate and the mound for the other bench to pick.
Keep the abbreviations short
The card combines the pitch and the zone into one abbreviation, so a curveball (C) up and away (UA) prints as CUA. One character for the pitch and two for the zone keeps the font readable even on a 6 x 6 grid on a youth wristband. The generator never limits the length; it only shrinks the font to fit the longest sign, so short abbreviations are the whole trick.
Features
Pitches and zones together
Set up your pitch list and your zone chart once; every cell on the card is a pitch in a location.
Templates by level
12U/14U, 16U/18U and college templates for baseball and for softball, with age-appropriate pitch lists to start from.
Coaches call sheet
The sheet you call from is generated with the card, in the same numbering, with room for notes.
Grids from 3 x 3 to 6 x 6
Up to 216 signs on a card on the Premium plan. Shuffle the numbering between games.
No electronics
Paper cards in a wristband pocket. Nothing to charge, pair or replace mid-inning, and nothing a league can object to.
Reprint in minutes
A new pitcher, a new zone, a stolen card: edit the set and print again before warm-ups.
Does it work for softball and baseball?
Yes. There are pitching templates for both, at 12U/14U, 16U/18U and college levels, and the zones and pitch lists are yours to edit.
How many pitches and zones fit on a card?
A 3 x 3 grid holds 54 signs on the free plan; paid plans go up to 6 x 6, which is 216. Most staffs use far fewer and leave the rest as decoys.
Can the pitcher wear a card too?
Yes. Print as many copies of the card as you need; the pitcher's card matches the catcher's.
Do you sell the physical wristbands?
No. The generator makes the printed cards that slide into the wristband's clear pocket. Any wristband sold online works, up to 8 inches wide and 10.5 inches tall.
