The limits follow Little League and Pitch Smart. Your league's rulebook has the last word, and some set lower limits or add rules for catchers and for pitching on consecutive days.

How it works

Choose the pitcher's age group and tap + Pitch for every pitch thrown, balls and strikes alike. The counter shows how many pitches are left of the daily maximum and the days of rest the count requires: for ages 14 and under, 1–20 pitches need none, 21–35 one day, 36–50 two, 51–65 three and 66 or more four. Ages 15–18 use 1–30, 31–45, 46–60, 61–75 and 76 or more. A pitcher who reaches the maximum in the middle of a batter may finish that batter. Add a pitcher for each arm used, and write the counts on your pitching chart when the game ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the pitch count limit for my age group?

Little League and Pitch Smart set a daily maximum of 50 pitches at 7–8, 75 at 9–10, 85 at 11–12, 95 at 13–16 and 105 at 17–18. Pick the age group above to see its limit and rest days.

How many days of rest does a pitcher need?

It depends on the pitches thrown in a day. At 14 and under, 1–20 pitches need no rest, 21–35 need one day, 36–50 two, 51–65 three and 66 or more four. At 15–18 the bands are 1–30, 31–45, 46–60, 61–75 and 76 or more.

Do warm-up pitches count?

No. Little League counts the pitches thrown in a game, not the warm-up pitches between innings. Count every pitch thrown to a batter, balls, strikes and fouls alike.

Does this work for softball?

It counts pitches for any sport, but the limits are baseball's. Most softball leagues use innings limits or their own pitch counts, and many have none, so check your league's rules and use the counter alone.

Does the tracker save the count?

No. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere, and the count is gone when you close the page. Write the totals on a pitching chart so the rest days carry to the next game.
