Slugging Percentage Calculator
Free slugging percentage calculator for baseball and softball: total bases from singles, doubles, triples and home runs.
How it works
Slugging percentage is total bases per at-bat: SLG = (1B + 2 × 2B + 3 × 3B + 4 × HR) ÷ AB. Singles are hits minus doubles, triples and home runs, so enter total hits and the calculator works them out. 14 hits (3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs) in 40 at-bats is 25 total bases ÷ 40 = .625.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate slugging percentage?
Add up total bases (a single is 1, a double 2, a triple 3, a home run 4) and divide by at-bats.
What is the difference between slugging and batting average?
Batting average treats every hit the same. Slugging weighs a hit by the bases it earns, so it measures power.
Can slugging percentage be above 1.000?
Yes. A hitter averaging more than one base per at-bat has a slugging percentage above 1.000.
Do walks count in slugging percentage?
No. Walks are not at-bats and are not hits, so they are left out. They count in on-base percentage.
